Snacking by the seasons: eating with the rhythm of the year

30 April 2026·6 min read

Ayurveda sees the seasons as doshic too. Here's how to shift your snacking as the weather turns.

Just as we each have a constitution, so do the seasons. Late autumn and winter are Vata seasons — cold, dry and windy. High summer is Pitta — hot and sharp. Late winter and spring are Kapha — damp, cool and heavy.

The Ayurvedic principle is simple: like increases like, and opposites balance. In a cold, dry Vata season, lean into warm, moist, grounding foods. In the heat of Pitta season, favour cooling and calming. In a heavy Kapha spring, choose light and spiced.

This is why rotating your snacks through the year makes sense. A Vata Balance ladoo is a friend in winter; Pitta Cool earns its place in summer; Kapha Ignite shines in spring.

Listen to your body and the weather together, and you'll rarely go wrong.
